Ready to carve tip #1

If you got here without seeing the main page about the antler carving, click here: http://canadianantler.blogspot.com/

Now we're ready to carve.  We found a nice antler and we got the tools.  I guess you figure you can't do that kind of stuff since you aren't an artist maybe.  There's a way around it.  You will need a certain amount of dexterity though. The way around it would be my tip #1 to you.  Browse the internet and look for a simple picture of a flower for example.

Go to the corner store and ask if they could give you the piece of carbon paper from their last  receipt book.  Use the carbon paper on top of the antler, under the nice picture you found on the internet.  That way, you get to use very nice pictures.  You still have to carve it so there will be a certain challenge to face.  The idea is to start with a simple but nice picture.  It is easier if you can draw.  You can also get a friend to draw on your antler.

I won't go too far with this post until I see if there are corrections to make to clarify things.  I am french after all and sometimes, the way I say things is not quite the way you've heard it before.  Be patient and encouraging and we'll get far together.
